Muscular Dystrophy Association
The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) has a long-standing and deeply rooted partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), dating back over 70 years. The IAFF enthusiastically supports the MDA's fundraising efforts, most notably through the "Fill the Boot" campaign, because it directly aligns with their commitment to community service and helping those in need. Firefighters witness firsthand the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by neuromuscular diseases and are proud to contribute to an organization that funds critical research, provides care, and advocates for those living with these conditions. This partnership has become a significant part of the IAFF's identity, reflecting their dedication to making a positive impact beyond their emergency response duties.
Veterans Memorial Ride
Local 831 is honored to continue our annual tradition of supporting the veteran riders traveling from California to Washington D.C. We demonstrate our respect with a strikingly large flag display, courtesy of our Ladder 54, and are pleased to offer these heroes a free lunch during their visit.
MDA Golf Tournament
September 13th, 2025 we will be hosting the annual MDA Golf Tournament at Rivers Edge Golf Course in NP. Prizes, fun and food provided.

Special Olympics NE Polar Plunge
Annually we support the Special Olympics Nebraska Polar Plunge at North Platte, NE in person and with monetary donations. Special Olympics Nebraska has been hosting a series of polar plunges to help raise funds for their Olympic athletes for their spring and fall games.
Battle of the Badges Battling Hunger
In an effort to raise awareness and food supplies for the Salvation Army, we are battling it out with the ER Nurses of North Platte, North Platte PD, and the LifeNet Flight crews to see who can gather the most food. Come have a brew, bring a can of stew. be sure to put it in our collection box of course!
Annual Fire Fighters Ball
After a hiatus since COVID, our union is excited to bring back our annual Firefighter's Ball in 2026! We encourage you to sign up and join us for a formal meal and an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our dedicated firefighters, paramedics, and leaders at our awards recognition.
